Who knows what the Vulcan IDIC is? À la Star Trek?
Infinite Diversity through Infinite Combinations. IDIC.
Describes life. No?
I added mine own “IC” to get my ICIDIC (I•kid•ik; or, I•ki•dik) way back in the early 1970s after reading a Star Trek novel. No longer remember which one. Do not ask.
Infinite Complexity from Infinite Diversity through Infinite Combinations.
Added to it after reading about the Vulcan IDIC, simply thinking Life is also infinitely complex.
And boy do I have a hard time getting the inexorably religious “scientists” to understand that. Michael Behe does not get it. LIFE can achieve infinite complexity (bacterial flagellum) from infinite diversity (natural selection) through infinite combinations (Speciation).
One thing I would have LOVED to have seen, since both were in the field of biology, a debate/discussion between Isaac Asimov and Michael Behe. Asimov would have shredded him into complete obscurity. You’d’ve never heard from Behe ever again.
Allow me to ask this question: How many times has the DNA molecule been replicated in the last 3.7 Billion years?
¿ 4.8152 ×10920962829254091715364367892593305305 ?
Is that a sufficiently large enough number for you? When considering bacteria, they replicate phenomenally fast. One bacteria can easily produce a million replications in, what?, a few days? A few hours? So... How many times has the DNA molecule been replicated by all life? Who could even guess? We could use Numeration Theory, or other number theory, to hazard a guess, but the answer is still ∞.
FYI: The number above is a mish-mash of copied portions of pi (π). I have a file that lists the first 10,000(?) digits of pi. From a Fortran program I wrote to calculate a number of digits. Back then, it took hours just to get 10,000 digits. Today? Did you blink your eye and miss it?
And then think about the number of times it has happened all across the Cosmos. Providing we are not the only life in this vast universe. Of course.
ADDENDA: Just included that pi file (new tab).
Truly T…H…I…N…K… Critically about that...
How many times has all life replicted, and made changes through mutation, the DNA molecule over the last 3,702,445,945 years? THINK Critically when guessing...
ICIDIC. Infinite complexity from infinite diversity through infinite combinations. As long as one can “kind-of” grasp infinity, it can be easily visualized how life CAN create the most complex biological systems. Just think. Imagination and Invention are just the intellect and knowledge having fun. Paraphrased from Albert Einstein.
